Five star Spanish Isles

Many small businesses say the secret to success is their team of skilled employees. If that's true for you then why not treat them once in a while? Our friends at Thomson Holidays have put together a review of the Balearic Islands - a great destination for the annual team outing.

Many hotel reviews tar the Balearic Islands with Ibiza’s party brush, but there’s far more to these isles than hedonistic Majorcaclubbing. Five star luxury is here if you know where to find it.

It’s a tough job doing 5 star hotel reviews but someone's got to do it! Here we share the fruits of our difficult labour with some enticing possibilities on Menorca, Majorca and Ibiza.

Ibiza holidays aren't just about nightclubs and if you’re looking for a holiday away from club-land, Santa Eulalia has everything you could desire – from sun-drenched beaches and calm waters, to pretty architecture and impressive street restaurants.

Despite Ibiza’s lack of truly luxurious hotels, you’ll find one of the best here. Instol Fenicia Prestige offers indulgent pampering in the Thalasso Spa, haute Mediterranean and Eastern cuisine served in four stunning restaurants, prestige catering for private parties, and if you wish, day charters for small and large capacity yachts and hot air balloon rides above the resort.

But there’s more to the Balearic Islands than Ibiza. In stark contrast is Menorca. Bypassed by package tourism, holidays in Menorca have the magical charm and peace of a remote haven. For the discerning traveller there is one hotel that stands out above the rest in this peaceful paradise.

In between the sandy beaches of Son Xoriguer and Cala’n Bosch, lies the La Quinta Resort Hotel and Spa. With a restaurant that serves a delectable à la carte menu, a vast cellar full of remarkable wines, a PADI-approved scuba diving school and a spa wellness centre and beauty centre, you’ll be fully rejuvenated by the time you fly home.

The queen of the Balearics, Majorca has a much longer heritage of offering truly exquisite 5 star luxury and offers a middle-way between the other two islands. The landscape is as serene as Menorca, while the summer parties are as lively as those in Ibiza.

For a taste of luxury on this beautiful island the Hotel Meliá Cala d’Or Boutique is hard to beat. Set in an ideal location, between the stunning Cala Gran cove and the city of Cala d’Or, this blissful hotel has just 49 rooms, providing a small and friendly, yet sumptuous atmosphere.

Inside you’ll find relaxation in the Turkish baths, fine food in the Es Llaut à la carte restaurant, and imaginative cocktails in the Piano Bar.

While outside you can enjoy the fresh air with volleyball, a spot of croquet, or even a round or two of golf at the Vall d’Or golf course, just down the country road.

So... what are you waiting for? Set a date, pack your cases and get ready to live the life of luxury – the Balearic Islands await.
